Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter Use creamy peanut butter for the batter.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Let soften at room temperature before mixing.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark according to preference.
  • 1 cup chopped Reese's For adding texture.
For the Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Make sure it's softened.
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk For consistency.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped Reese's.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting
  1. For the frosting, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and peanut butter until smooth.
  2. Add heavy cream or milk until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one layer, add the second layer, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  4. Top with additional chopped Reese's if desired.

Notes

This cake can be made in various sizes; just adjust the bake time accordingly. Ensure the cake is cooled completely before frosting to prevent melting.
